One of the original engineering plastics, it is still today the material of choice for many bearing and wear applications. Nylon is extruded general purpose nylon 6 & 66. The combination of physical properties such as chemical resistance, toughness, light weight and resistance to abrasion, Nylon 6 is regularly machined into parts to replace brass, steel, bronze, and aluminium. Nylon 66 most is enhanced with molybdenum 2 disulfide. It provides a lower coefficient of friction and also improved wear resistance. Nylon 66 GF 30 is reinforced with 30% glass fibres. This thus offers higher tensile strength, superior abrasion resistance and flexural strength.
